Bathurst 1000 Results from Lysterfield Raceway Saturday 13th February

Saturday gone saw the long anticipated Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercars event take place at the scenic Lysterfield Raceway (formerly Rowville Raceway). The turnout was just right allowing the main race to be run as a teams event with ample marshals.

The race was run in an enduro format with 4 teams racing 4 heats of 161 laps with fuel stops. A race briefing was held which summarised the information below.
- 161 laps per heat (ie, each lane)
- Heats finished when the heat leader completed 161 laps. Other drivers were able to complete the lap they are on and be given partial laps.
- Most laps wins.
- Track voltage was set at an agreed 12.8v maximum.

To try and balance the teams, a qualifying session was run in which each driver in turn completed a sighting lap followed by a single hot lap (all using blue lane). Lap times were ranked and drivers grouped based on combined average lap times.

Congratulations to team Stoner Bros!!! Considering the length of the race (estimated that the cars traveled about 19.2 real kms during the race) the gap between 1st and 2nd place was very close so well done The Wasted.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable night and a big thank you to the host and all who attended.
